All seniors playing in PTFC are eligible to apply for a scholarship if you plan to attend college or university. Winner(s) will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, service to community and school, and leadership in interscholastic and competitive league sports.
Below is more information on each scholarship that is offered.
The Piedmont Soccer Alliance Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Board of Directors of PSA in 1987. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and honor members of the Piedmont Soccer Alliance who have excelled in area high school soccer and plan to attend college.
The Kenny Potts Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1998, this scholarship honors Kenny Potts, who was a member of the '75 PSA Stars and played for Andrews High School. Unfortunately, a car accident took Kenny's life in his early 20's. It was a great loss for this soccer community and particularly to his teammates and extended soccer family! A memorial was set up in memory of Kenny by the parents of the '75 Stars team. This scholarship continues to touch the lives of young men and women in our community who share the same passion for the game that Kenny so much loved. Danny and Gail Potts use the same criteria and application as above for the purpose of awarding the Kenny Potts Memorial Scholarship. May Kenny's memory live on!
The J.M. Keever Scholarship
Established in 2007, this scholarship is given by David and Sharon Keever in honor of their three children - Jennifer, Jonathan and Jason Keever. They also wish to honor David Upchurch for the positive impact he made in the life of their son, Jason, and the lives of many children throughout our community. "Positively impacting lives on the soccer field" is the influence that the Keever's are looking to reward. The David and Sharon Keever Foundation will have final approval on the committee selection.
The David Upchurch Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2016 to honor David Upchurch's dedication and loyalty to youth soccer and the impact that he has had in the Triad. David's never-ending commitment to the game of soccer and all of its participants makes this a very special scholarship to award. The applicants must also be a role model for their peers and the soccer community.
